Does NAO offer diploma or degree programs?

National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) is a private Canadian college of osteopathy, with a campus at York University Heights. NAO is not registered as a university and it does not offer any degree programs. NAO only offers diploma and certificate programs in the field of manual osteopathy. None of NAO programs lead to any degrees in osteopathy. NAO programs are not part of any degree programs.

NAO president, manual osteopath, Dr Shawn Pourgol, MBA, DC, DO, PhD is founder of three universities (National University of Medical Sciences) in USA, Spain and Panama (the one in Panama is not yet operational). NAO is not affiliated with these universities. NAO and these three universities are registered independently of each other in different countries. NAO is operational since 2010. NUMSS (Spain) since 2012. NUMSS (USA) since 2016 and NUMSS (Panama) was registered in 2018 but it is not yet operational.

Being a student of NAO will not offer an easier way to enrol in any programs offered by these universities. NAO alumni who are interested in applying to any of the degree programs offered by these universities must contact them directly and fulfill their admission requirements. NAO has no information on the degree programs offered by these universities and these universities do not operate at NAO campus in Toronto. The practical technique classes of these universities are located in Panama.

NAO Student Infected with COVID-19

We were saddened to hear a few days ago that one of our osteopathy students, massage therapist Lavinia Rusu and her teenage child in Georgia, USA have now the COVID-19. She got the infection by a friend who visited her.
She and her child have passed 11 days and are on their way to recovery (thanks God!).
Here is a short video she made about her ordeal.

This is a fact of life now. Just now US passed China and Italy with the most number of COVID-19 in the world.
Please stay safe.
God bless.

Please stay safe. Please stay positive. Please enjoy your life. Science and humanity will overcome this health crisis. I am 100% sure of it.

A Beautiful Letter from Alexandra

💟 A beautiful letter from Alexandra Wilson, a National Academy of Osteopathy students in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada): 💟

Dr. Pourgol,

…... I would like to share something that I am very proud of with my NAO studies. ….... There's not a SINGLE female manual osteopath in the entire city of Fredericton, NB ......….I feel so lucky to have found NAO, and to be able to make people's lives better.

Thank you so much for opening National Academy of Osteopathy; I am positive I will be successful because such little advertising already filled my extra time... with my attitude, I know I can build a practice quickly and successfully.

In a way, you have also inspired a friend of mine. Your business and ethics lectures have been helping to build me up as a person, in becoming business smart AND in lifting people up, through your advice and encouragement... qualities which I have been using.

I was able to help convince my friend she has a future, if she stays alive, and she even decided to return to college through the love and wisdom I have absorbed from your lectures. The statements you mentioned from the Cheshire Cat in "Alice in Wonderland" about knowing where to go were extremely helpful for her (she didn't watch the videos, of course, I just reiterated the wisdom).

Please excuse my boldness, but thanks where thanks is due is advice my grandfather always gave to me. I am seeing how much good I can learn from your lectures (I initially thought these lectures were pointless time fillers.... but I was very, VERY mistaken -- it is the knowledge of conscientious success).

Please continue to expand NAO throughout the world so others can learn to help people through osteopathy and your wisdom. I hope you can excuse my possibly too-enthusiastic feelings. They're unbecoming from a stranger, but I see you every day, so you are not much of a stranger to me.

Ontario Alumni Should Read This

Dear Ontario based alumni:

As of now manual osteopaths are not permitted to re-open their clinics in Ontario. We are confident that in early to mid-June 2020, they will be permitted to re-open.

The College of Registered Manual Osteopaths (Canada) has requested its members to read the following file published by the Ontario Ministry of Health for all health practitioners to familiarize themselves with what is required by the Ontario government.

Please click on the link below to read the file to ensure you are ready and compliant with what is requested and mandatory. Please start buying (if you have not already done so) enough personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure you, your staff and patients are safe and protected while you are working.

ICBC Osteopathy Coverage

Our alumni informed us that the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) which is the main and only government appointed auto insurer in BC now covers manual osteopathic care with a referral from a family physician or general practitioner for those patients who are injured in a motor vehicle accident.

RIP Joshua

I cannot stop crying. This broke my heart. Someone so young, so energetic, so kind, taken away so early.
I and the rest of National Academy of Osteopathy staff and faculty members are deeply saddened by the passing away of Josh Roth one of our current students who was at NAO campus about two weeks ago.
He will be truly missed and I will include him in my daily prayers.
Dr Shawn Pourgol

💟Million Dollar Osteopathy Clinic in Trinidad & Tobago!💟

Dr Pourgol made a video a few days ago for manual osteopaths who are not his students on how to set up a million dollar manual osteopathy clinic.

He was pleasantly surprised to hear from one of his students Dr Randy Nagir, who represents Osteopathy Chronic Pain Clinics of Canada in the Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago that he now owns a million dollar clinic in that island. This is what he wrote:

"Already a million dollar clinic two years in a row, after graduating in 2017, all praise to my God Yahweh Elohim and to the NAO and CRMO team, and a special thank you to Dr. Pourgol, may God continue to guide and bless him and his family."

We are grateful to Dr Nagir for the kind words. 💟

NAO Student #4 in Arnold Classic 2020!

National Academy of Osteopathy (Canada) student Jodii Fox, has placed in the top 4 of Arnold Classic 2020 in USA today.
We hope tomorrow she will be chosen #1!
Best wishes Jodi!

NAO Policy Change

Effective immediately the two weeks osteopathy practical technique classes of National Academy of Osteopathy (Canada) are available only to NAO students.
We no longer accept students from other schools for the two weeks on-site practical osteopathy technique classes and it is no longer offered as a continuing education program to the students of National University of Medical Sciences (Spain) and National University of Medical Sciences (USA).
The two universities mentioned above now offer their own practical technique classes in Panama.
