NAO Policy Update (effective September 01, 2019)

Based on requests of faculty as well as students we have made changes to upgrade National Academy of Osteopathy.

The changes in policies starts from September 01, 2019. The changes will affect both on-campus as well as online students starting the new semester in September.

-A first aid class will be offered at NAO campus in Toronto once per semester (for both on-campus and online students).

-All on-campus students (including those who are exempted from Anatomy and physiology) will have Anatomy and Physiology Review Course, twice per week in the afternoons with Dr Khorrami (two hours per week). This is mandatory for all students.

-Students will have 3 days to complete all the exams, instead of the current one day.
-Students will be able to do the online exam just once per day. If they fail, they have to book for another exam date for another date. An exam retake fee will apply for the failed exams. Previously students could take exams as many times they wished for free if they failed. Now there will be a fee for each exam that they have to re-write.

-An exam bank will be created with 500 questions per subject. The 20, 30 or whatever number of exam questions for each subject will be randomly picked for each student by a computer software. This means two students sitting next to each other will have different exams.

-Students who fail the DOMP program must pay full tuition to repeat the program. Previously they could take the DOMP program free of charge. Hopefully this motivates students to study well so they do not fail the program.

-On-campus students must complete their program in allocated time. For example if they have 2 semesters, then they should graduate in 2 semesters. They can delay their graduation if they wish but they cannot attend the campus for free outside their allocated time. For example, if they have two semesters in their DOMP program and after completing one semester, they wish to delay the other semester they can do so. But they cannot complete both semesters, but decide not to receive their diploma and instead attend the campus again for free practice. We have had a number of such cases. This causes extra work for our staff and takes the available spaces and we no longer can afford it. Students can delay the graduation but should not attend the campus unless they pay tuition for each semester they attend.

-Attendance is mandatory for all on-campus students. 15% of final mark for the practical exam (for on-campus students) is allocated to attendance. Full time students must attend the campus 5 days per week and part time students must attend the campus two times per week.

We constantly try to upgrade NAO to keep it the best osteopathic school in the world.
