A Poem

Small sparks create

thick clouds of smoke.

Tiny stone: big ripples.

Soft gentle touch

raising tsunami waves

of  epic emotions.

A single step off the cliff

and a deep fall downwards.

Ants balancing big loads

on their little backs.

Old damaged photographs

evoking complicated knots

of interwoven memories.

Invisible electric current

giving quick birth

to blinding bright light.

Slight smiles and big joy.

Sound of jingles leading

to waves of nostalgia.

A drop of perfume

taking over the atmosphere

rolling and colliding

with air molecules.

Big oak trees created

3 Cranial Osteopathy Instructors

Did you know we have three instructors for cranial osteopathy techniques? Jorge Andres, Dr D. Nuzum and Pamela Crosson-Fournier all teach cranial osteopathy.

Meeting President of Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association

Dr Abdullah Al Mamun, president of Bangladesh Physiotherapy Association (BPA) traveled to Toronto (Canada) to meet with Dr Shawn Pourgol, president of National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO) to discuss academic cooperation.

NAO will offer the Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice (DOMP) program to BPA members. 

We wish to thank Dr Mamun for taking the time to visit us in Toronto. It was so nice to meet him in person.

Gift to 2,000 Physiotherapists worth 300,000 EURO

Dr Shawn Pourgol's seminar titled "Osteopathic Management of Cervicogenic Headaches", valued at 150 EURO per DVD will be given to 2,000 physiotherapists who attend the 16th annual physiotherapy conference in Tehran. This is a 300,000 EURO gift to introduce physiotherapists in Iran to manual osteopathy.

NAO Donates to Santa Claus Fund

To give thanks in this festive season for all we are blessed to have, National Academy of Osteopathy, on behalf of its staff and faculty donated on Monday, to the Toronto Star Santa Claus Fund that provides gifts to children in the Christmas time.

It is nice to bring smiles to faces of children in this joyful season.

I wish to thank my mentor, Brian Tracy for writing a letter to my students at National Academy of Osteopathy. I know how busy he is and for him to take the time to advice NAO students is highly valuable to me. I am most grateful.

Brian is one of my heroes, from a humble beginning (he was homeless at one time, worked in a farm, and did many labor jobs) he made himself one of the highest paid professionals in the field of self development.

His company generated over half a billion dollars so far!

Ontario (Canada) Second Career funding offers up to $28,000 in non-payable grant to study manual osteopathy at National Academy of Osteopathy. NAO offers a yearlong diploma program in manual osteopathy which is eligible for this government program.

Second Career Strategy is a provincial program founded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities of Ontario (Canada) that is designed to offer financial support for tuition and other costs towards training in careers such as manual osteopathy.

Due to the downturn in the manufacturing sector and other sectors of the labor market in this province, the government has allocated significant amounts of resources (over $1.5 billion since 2008. Honorable Dr Reza Moridi, the Ontario Minister of Training, Colleges & Universities has announced an increased in this budget) to assist affected individuals to re-train for other highly skilled jobs, and careers, such as those found in manual osteopathy, through career training.

If you qualify, government assistance will provide funding towards your college tuition, cost of living during your education, books, transportation, & daycare for your children.

To find out if you qualify please contact the applicable government center. Before you apply you need a letter from National Academy of Osteopathy outlining the program information. Contact our admissions office at admissions@nationalacademyofosteopathy.com to ask for the letter to apply for “Second Career Training Strategy”.

This program is evaluated on individual basis. The government (not NAO) decides who receives this grant. We have no control over the selection process.

Recently laid-off workers can participate in the Second Career Strategy, including those who are eligible for Employment Insurance and those who are not.

Call the toll-free Employment Ontario hotline at 1-800-387-5656, TTY (telephone service for the deaf) 1-866-533-6339 for more information about how to access the Second Career Strategy in your area. Newcomers to Ontario can ask for this information in the language of their choice. 

Manual Osteopathy Insurance Coverage

Not all Canadians know that they are eligible to purchase extended health plans directly from insurers (not from work) that cover medications, glasses, dental work and manual osteopathic treatments among many other benefits. Depending on the insurer and policy, monthly payment range from $20 to $150.

National Academy of Osteopathy (Canada) graduates who practice in Canada should have print outs ready for patients without insurance coverage that would give them information about different insurers, different plans and insurance contact information.

It is a win-win situation, both for the patient as well as the osteopathic manual practitioner. Almost 99% of insurers in Canada cover the cost of treatments provided by our graduates who are members of the Society of Osteopaths of Canada, Ontario Osteopathic & Alternative Medicine Association, National Manual Osteopathic Society, and other associations.

When your patients purchase private health insurance they will not have to pay out of pocket for your treatments. It is a benefit for them as well as you.

NAO Refund Policy

This refund policy applies to the national and international part time and full time online as well the on-campus DOMP (Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice) program offered by National Academy of Osteopathy (NAO).

The NAO application fee and the deposit are non-refundable when received. The full tuition (100%) is non-refundable when the program has started in first week of September or March), or when a password and user ID has been issued to view the online video lectures, or when the external hard drive has been mailed.

The tuition (minus the deposit and application fee) is refundable if we receive an email request from the student and if the class has not started, and if we have not issued a password and user ID and if we did not mail the external hard drive.

We give access to all our online programs to on-campus students as well. So the same policy for online students apply to the campus based students.
