The Lost Techniques of Osteopathy

The Lost Techniques of Osteopathy

Did you know we are the only manual osteopathic school in Canada teaching the manual mechanotherapy techniques of H. R. Spitler, MD, DC, DO, PhD?

Dr Spitler was a medical doctor, chiropractor, osteopath and optometrist in Ohio, USA who invented a model of osteopathy techniques about a hundred years ago that dealt with soft tissue as well as osseous manual therapy.

As his techniques focused mainly on orthopedic conditions of musculoskeletal system, he fell out of favor with the osteopathy leadership of the time and his techniques were not taught in most osteopathic schools.

Manual mechanotherapy is now mainly practiced in Ohio by a group of practitioners calling themselves mechanotherpists. The techniques are considered the lost techniques of osteopathy.
Dr. Daniel Nuzum, NMD, DO (from Ohio, USA) has done six lectures on this technique which is now available for our registered students to watch at our video server.

Best Staff EVER!

I wish to thank you, our administrative staff for doing such a superb job managing the work. Without you we could not have become the largest provider of manual osteopathic education in the world.
You are the best!

Better Than McGill University!

A post from Adrienne Wolfe-Koukharski, our student in Montreal:

“Dr. Shahin Pourgol, I'm loving your business lectures. I took management at McGill University and your classes are 10x more interesting. Keep up the good work!”

We are the only osteopathy school teaching students everything we know about business. Our graduates learn about how to manage their practice effectively. They learn about tax planning, investment, accounting, marketing, public relations, asset protection, life improvement skills, and networking among other things.

This is one reason why our graduates are instant success and why so many manual osteopaths from other schools register in our programs to learn the business skills we teach.

Please Help Alberta

Fellow Alumni and Students,
"The Canadian Red Cross has mobilized to help the people affected by wildfires in Alberta. Massive wildfires have triggered the largest fire-related evacuation in Alberta’s history, and due to high temperatures and wind the situation has the potential to become more serious. 12 communities, including Fort McMurray, are currently impacted by the fires, which have damaged and destroyed homes and property. When people evacuated their communities, they left not knowing if they would have homes to return to. Evacuated residents find themselves in need of a place to stay, food, water and basic supplies. The Red Cross has a network of highly-trained volunteers who are there to help, and we’re actively scaling up our operations in response to the fires. We are supporting registration, family re-unification, assisting in shelters in Edmonton and Lac La Biche, as well as providing accommodation and basic necessities like food and water. Specially-trained volunteers are providing care and comfort to those who have suffered emotional trauma. Additional personnel are on standby and ready if needed. We will be working alongside those affected not just today, but for the weeks and months and even years that follow as they recover."
As the President of National Osteopathic Practitioners Alumni Association representing National Academy of Osteopathy, I implore everyone to offer your help in this fundraising.
Together We Make The Difference.
Regards,
Andrew Chan, RHN, DOMP, BSc, DO(candidate)
President of National Osteopathic Practitioners Alumni Association
